Itinerary

Day 01: Cusco – Cachora – Capuliyoc – Chikisca

Our trekking adventure to Choquequirao starts from Cusco, we will leave at 04:30 am towards a small picturesque Quechua village known as “San Pedro de Cachora” is 4 hours away from our Imperial city of Cusco, once in this place we will enjoy a delicious Andean breakfast and then we will go to Capuliyoc; at this point our guide will give us a brief explanation of Choquequirao and the distance we will walk through the impressive Apurimac Canyon. We will walk from 3 to 4 hrs. approx. until we arrive to Chikisca, in this place we will have lunch and spend the night.

Day 02: Chikisca – Rosalina Beach – Santa rosa – Marampata

On this second day, we will have breakfast at our campsite and start our hike along the Apurimac valley. After crossing the Apurimac river we will arrive to Santa Rosa where we will rest to continue walking uphill for 2 hours more, then we will arrive to Marampata where we will have lunch and in the afternoon we will learn about agriculture and the Quechua way of life, finally we will spend the night in a lodging house with a good comforting dinner.

Day 03: Marampata – Choquequirao Archaeological Complex – Marampata

We will enjoy a hearty breakfast early in the morning before starting our 1:30 hour hike to the majestic Inca city of Choquequirao. We will spend the whole day exploring the archaeological site with buildings in different areas, the main square, the agricultural terraces, and the famous terraces with llamas. In the afternoon we will return to Marampata where a delicious dinner will be waiting for us, then we will rest.

Day 04: Marampata – Santa Rosa – Rosalina Beach – Chikisca- Capuliyoc – Cusco

After a good night’s sleep and a delicious breakfast, we will pack our gear to return to Capuliyoc. Following the same path, this day will be the longest and most challenging day we will have in this trek, we will stop at Rosalinas Beach to rest and then we will start ascending to Chikisca, here we will have lunch and then continue along the Apurimac valley to Capuliyoc where our transport will be waiting for us to return to Cusco.
